I'm really excited to be part of the first project from the Australian Creative Music Ensemble - ACME for short. ACME is a new contemporary collective focused on improvising, and dedicated to the commissioning of new work. The first project is No New Noise.
In an age of personal assistants hidden inside mobile phones, self-driving cars and increasingly self-aware technology, no new noise seeks to ask the question: how long is it until artificial intelligence replaces composers and musicians?
Three composers will respond to this idea, creating new works for a powerhouse improvising ensemble exploring questions of authenticity in an age of digital reproduction, asking whether computers can truly develop a creative aesthetic, and wondering what is the nature of intelligence anyway?
